Cyril met with his longtime good friend John Wicks from the legendary power pop group, The Records. They had a brief visit in Los Angeles where Cyril approached John about covering The Records song “Starry Eyes” for the Flamin’ Groovies live sets. They also discussed doing some shows together in the future.
One of the coolest moments of the Flamin’ Groovies tour occurred when our new friend Keiichi Kodama flew all the way from Japan to San Francisco to see The Flamin’ Groovies play a show at Elbo Room back in May. He missed the opportunity to see them when they played Japan, so he took a big chance and travelled thousands of miles to attend a sold-out show that he didn’t have a ticket for.
Needless to say, Keiichi Kodama found a way to attend this show with this wonderful story that touched all of us that met him, and then wrote about the experience for Web Rock Magazine BEEAST aka beeast69.com.
Thank you, Keiichi Kodama for the kind words!

The Flamin’ Groovies will keep doing these spurts of energy shows/tours going gangbusters!
Everyone was so nice to us this time out – we were treated so well by everyone on this tour! The hotel suites had washers and dryers, the fans were beautiful, the staff and crew made us feel right at home!
Thanks to everyone who enjoyed the recent Elbo Room show. I couldn’t really hear the sound clearly so it meant a lot to hear from so many of you who said it sounded alright! We were very tired from the long flight home after the whirlwind tour – the best tour we ever did!
Our new drummer Victor was great, we couldn’t have done it without him!

It’s been quite a power-packed couple of weeks. The Flamin’ Groovies just toured Japan, Australia, and just did a standing-room, sold-out show in their home town of San Francisco.
Soon, the man himself may share a few words after he catches his breath…
